[Intro]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9 Dbadd9 Ab Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Dbadd9 Ab

[Verse 1]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
A lonely mother gazing out of the window
        Dbadd9 Ab
Staring at her son that she just can't touch
          Ebadd9
If at any time he's in a jam,
       Bbadd9
she'll be by his side
               Dbadd9 Ab
But he doesn't realize he hurts her so much
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
But all the praying just ain't helping at all
               Dbadd9 Ab
Cause he can't seem to keep his self out of trouble
               Ebadd9 Bbadd9
So he goes out and he makes his money the best way he
knows how
        Dbadd9 Ab
Another body laying cold in the gutter
Listen to me

[Chorus]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Don't go chasing waterfalls
                    Dbadd9 Ab
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used
to
                   Ebadd9 Bbadd9
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
                   Dbadd9 Ab
But I think you're moving too fast

[Verse 2]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Little precious has a natural obsession for
    Dbadd9
temptation
                  Ab
But he just can't see
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
She gives him loving that his body can't handle
        Dbadd9
But all he can say is,
            Ab
''Baby it's good to me''
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
One day he goes and take a glimpse in the mirror
       Dbadd9 Ab
But he doesn't recognize his own face
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
His health is fading and he doesn't know why
              Dbadd9 Ab
Three letters took him to his final resting place
Y'all, don't hear me

[Chorus]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Don't go chasing waterfalls
                    Dbadd9 Ab
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used
to
                   Ebadd9 Bbadd9
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
                   Dbadd9 Ab
But I think you're moving too fast
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Don't go chasing waterfalls
                    Dbadd9 Ab
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used
to
                   Ebadd9 Bbadd9
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
                   Dbadd9 Ab
But I think you're moving too fast
Come on

[Verse 3]
Ebadd9
      I seen a rainbow yesterday,
          Bbadd9
but too many storms have come and gone
                                    Dbadd9
Leaving a trace of not one Godgiven ray
Is it because my life is ten shades of gray
  Ab
I pray, all ten fade away
Seldom praise Him for the sunny days
Ebadd9
And like his promise is true
                  Bbadd9
Only my faith can undo the many chances I blew to bring my
life to anew
Dbadd9
Clear and blue and unconditional skies
     Ab
Have dried the tears from my eyes
No more lonely cries
   Ebadd9
My only bleeding hope
                                    Bbadd9
Is for the folk who can't cope with such an enduring pain
That it keeps them in the pouring rain
Dbadd9 Ab
Who's to blame for tooting 'caine into your own vein
What a shame,
you shoot and aim for someone else's brain
Ebadd9
Claim the insane
And name this day in time
            Bbadd9
For falling prey to crime
I say the system's got you victim to your own mind
Dbadd9 Ab
Dreams are hopeless aspirations in hopes of coming
true
Believe in yourself,
the rest is up to me and you

[Chorus]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Don't go chasing waterfalls
                    Dbadd9 Ab
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used
to
                   Ebadd9 Bbadd9
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
                   Dbadd9 Ab
But I think you're moving too fast

[Fade Out]
Ebadd9 Bbadd9
Don't go chasing waterfalls
                    Dbadd9 Ab
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used
to
                   Ebadd9 Bbadd9
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
                   Dbadd9 Ab
But I think you're moving too fast
