With the wind in your hair and the reigns
                      G F
In your hands and the horse is in your favour

[Verse 1]
Am
Crack of dawn on a Sunday morn
        C G Am
And the convoys in full flow
Pajero jeeps cars and vans
         C G Am
With the horse box on the tow
Heading out to the edge of town
            C G Am
There’s a big race going down
First nose to pass the two mile mark
   C G Am
Is crowned the king of the road

[Verse 2]
     Am
Remember Chipnpin and the Indian
       C G Am
In the class A free leg race
When the Chip took the gold on the mullingar road
   C G Am
It wasn’t the Indians day
But the Indian has blood to win
       C G Am
He was bred by the big Gang Joyce
For he’s sired the foals,
worth their weight in gold
       C G Am
Taking home now many a race

[Chorus]
          F
When your hooring down the road
   C G Am

         F C
With the wind in your hair and the reigns
                      G F
In your hands and the horse is in your favour
                     Am G
Your King of the road

[Verse 3]
      Am
There ain’t no flies on the Big Noise
        C G Am
If they are they’re paying rent
When the Big Noise ran with I’m the Man
        C G Am
And the record he did break
Three fifty seven down the Dualer
         C G Am
Flat out on a two mile stretch
Never be a swore looser
        C G Am
Cough up now and pay your bets

[Chorus]
          F
When your hooring down the road
   C G Am
At ninety mile an hour on the back of a sulky racer
         F C
With the wind in your hair and the reigns
                      G F
In your hands and the horse is in your favour
