Beat You There

[Intro]
C Gsus4
Am7 F C
     I don't know why

[Verse 1]
    Gsus4
God always takes the good ones first
Am7 F C
     And man I've tried
      Gsus4
To be strong and carry on,
             Am7
But damn this hurts

[Pre-Chorus]
F G Am7
And I just wish that I could talk to you again, somehow,
some way
       G
Even if it's for a moment,
    F
So I can hear you say

[Chorus]
         C Gsus4 G
Don't cry for me; I'm alright
             Am7
Yeah, I'm better than you know
F C Gsus4 G
And this life can be a shorter ride
              Am7
So don't waste it on sorrow
F G
And just hold on to those moments
          Am7
And the memories we shared
           G
We're both headed for the same place anyway
F
 I just beat you there

[Instrumental]
C Gsus4 Am7 Fadd9 C
                 I know they say,

[Verse 2]
      Gsus4 G
"Just give it a little time,
           Am7
you'll be okay."
Fadd9 C
     That might be true;
Gsus4 G
It don't really help me today

[Pre-Chorus]
Am7
Fadd9 Gadd11
And we ain't supposed to question the
   Am7
Man upstairs
                      Gadd11
'Cause there's just so much I don't understand
   Fadd9
It just don't seem fair

[Chorus]
         C Gsus4
Don't cry for me; I'm alright
             Am7
Yeah, I'm better than you know
Fadd9 C Gsus4
And this life can be a shorter ride
              Am7
So don't waste it on sorrow
Fadd9 Gadd11
And just hold on to those moments
          Am7
And the memories we shared
           Gadd11
We're both headed for the same place anyway
Fadd9
     I just beat you there
C/E G
And as each day goes by

[Bridge]
                   Am7
I get a little bit stronger
                   G
But that don't stop me from wishing you
         Fadd9 C
Were here a little bit longer
         Gsus4 G
Whoa, oh, oh
            Am7 Fadd9
Whoa, whoa, oh

[Instrumental]
      | C - | Gsus4 G | Am7 - |

[Verse 3]
Fadd9 C Gsus4
And so I'm gonna smile when I think of you
       Am7
Like I know you'd want me to
F C Gsus4
And I know you're watching over me
   Am7
In everything I do
F G
And all those things I never got to say
          Am7
Well I'll send 'em with this prayer
Then look up,
G F
wipe my tears and raise my beer
    G
Mm, mm
                      C
And I'll see you there

[Outro]
Gsus4 Am7
     Oh-oh
         Fadd9
Oh-oh-oh-oh
                      C
And I'll see you there
Oh-oh
Gsus4
     Oh-oh
